Limit Poker Games
Betting structures in most online casino games refer to table or machine limits, which is the same for online roulette, blackjack and slots games. Poker betting structure applies to the betting limit poker rules and the obligatory bets applied in the particular poker games. There are four main betting structures in poker : Fixed Limit, Pot Limit, Spread Limit and No Limit. Let’s learn all of them.
Fixed Limit
In the fixed limit poker variations the amount of all bets is limited. This means that the poker player should only choose to wager or not. Usually the size of the bet is raised twice at the last rounds of the game. That’s why, the original betting amount is called the small bet and the raised one is the big bet. For example, in the $10/$20 poker game the players can bet $10 during the first rounds and $20 during the last. Note that such amount refers also to the size of raise. In some of poker variants there is a limited quantity of raises during the betting round. The biggest quantity depends on the card room rules. Some casino halls may even allow unlimited quantity of raises, especially in case just two players stay in the game.
Spread Limit
In the spread limit poker games the gambler can bet and raise according to the limited range. For instance, in the "1 to 5 limit" poker game the player can wager from $1 to $5. As a rule in the last rounds this range is increased a little bit, it is usually shown in the poker name. There exists the so called California Spread betting structure and poker variations that apply such spread limit poker betting structure have much bigger range of bets, for example from $3 to $100, or from $15 to $500. California Spread betting structure is used in poker games mostly in California where no limit betting structure is not permitted by the law.
Pot Limit
In the pot limit poker games the gambler is allowed to raise up to the pot size. For example, when there are $10 in the pot at the start of betting the gambler which opens betting may wager up to $10, and he or she does bet $10, the next player is permitted to to raise to $40 (because the original pot size was $10 and after $10 call of the first gambler the size is $30 so the second player can raise $30). The same the third poker player can raise up to $140 so on. In some poker variants the way to calculate the highest raise is different so every time you gamble with pot limit structure study the basic rules.
No Limit
In the no limit poker variations the gamblers can raise and bet up to the amount of the stake. Of course, there is the minimum amount to start round of betting and each raise has to be equal to the amount of the preceding raise or higher.
